Do You Accept Your Weaknesses As Well As Strengths?

Self-regard is Essential to High EQ and Happiness at Work

Do you know yourself well and have a high level of self-respect? Do you acknowledge your faults and limitations? Self-regard comes from understanding strengths and accepting (even appreciating!) weaknesses. Self-regard helps you build the inner strength you need to face new challenges.

When you succeed, your confidence grows! High self-regard provides you with positive energy and forward momentum to achieve your goals. Self-regard enhances your work/life satisfaction and happiness. When you believe in yourself, you have the emotional courage necessary to step out of your comfort zone and try new experiences, extend your world-view, give voice to your ideas, think differently and engage new relationships.

But, what about your weaknesses? What if you try and fail? What if you’re just not good at something? When you fail and recognize your weaknesses, your humility grows. Humility helps you learn. Humility puts a check on over-confidence and arrogance. Humility allows you to be vulnerable, admit when you’re wrong and appreciate the wisdom and talents of others. Humility helps you accept weaknesses and learn from failures while remaining self-secure. Without it, you’ll never achieve your greatest growth and happiness.

So, how do you boost your self-regard? Knowing yourself well and getting feedback on how you’re doing has a powerful and significant impact on your overall self-regard.

  • Always check-in on your performance, never check out. Seeking feedback shows you’re willing to learn.

  • Receive positive feedback? Celebrate it! Be proud of yourself!

  • Don’t get feedback at work? Find experts and thought leaders to follow. They can be a great source of feedback.

If you’d like feedback on your self-regard, the EQ-i self-assessment will give you self-feedback on EQ strengths, weaknesses and overall happiness at work. Contact me to learn more! susan@theeicoach.com
